Rules For Registration

All Quarter Horses bred in California must be registered with Pacific Coast Quarter Horse Racing Association before they will be allowed to start in any California-Bred race, or collect awards through the Cal-Bred Awards Program. In order to legally claim the Cal-Bred bonus payment for a California-Bred race within this state, such horse shall previous to being entered in such race, have been registered and certified as a California-Bred Quarter Horse with the PCQHRA. The breeder, owner or his agent is eligible to file this application.
California-Bred Defined:

A Cal-Bred prior to Jan. 1, 1997, is defined as an AQHA registered Quarter Horse foal conceived in California. For foals born on or after Jan. 1, 1997, a Cal-Bred is defined as an AQHA registered Quarter Horse foal conceived in California by a stallion standing in California at the time of conception.

California-Bred Breeder Defined

The Cal-Bred Breeder of a foal conceived prior to Jan. 1, 1996 is defined as the owner of the mare at the time of foaling. For a foal conceived after Jan. 1, 1996, the Cal-Bred Breeder is defined as the owner of the mare at the time of conception.

Registration Fees
Registration fee must accompany application or application will be returned.

To become a PCQHRA Supporting Member please remit a separate $25 check for annual dues.

Application may be made by mail or in person at the office of the PCQHRA (4961 Katella, Los Alamitos, CA). Application blanks must be completed legibly in ink or on typewriter, and must be accompanied by fee and AQHA registration certificates.
NOTICE: the applicant assumes full responsibility for proper identification of the horse as a Cal-Bred, and agrees that if it should later be proven ineligible, all monies won on Cal-Bred races and all breeders awards will be forfeited; and agrees to repay such monies on demand by the PCQHRA.
I hereby certify that the foal herein descrtibed is eligible for Cal-Bred registration; and that according to the provisions of Section 19406(c) of the Business and Professions Code of the State of California this is a California-Bred foal.
